Goykar’s contributory writers felicitated

The first anniversary of the magazine ‘Goykar’ was observed at the Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji. On this occasion, the latest issue of ‘Goykar’ was released at the hands of the Chief Guest for the function Mr Menino Peres, Director of the Department Of Information And Publicity. Other dignitaries present at the function included Mr Premanand Lotlikar, President of the Dalgado Konkani Akademi, Mr N Shivdas, President of the Goa Konkani Akademi and the editor of ‘Goykar’, Mr Tomazinho Cardozo.

Addressing the audience Mr Cardozo said that the youth play a very vital role in the society therefore it is essential that they are made aware of their strengths and begin tapping into them. “Writing skills never go to waste. One has to keep on trying even after several disappointments,” he added.


Mr Cardozo felicitated the 10 young writers who have contributed a lot to the magazine. Mr Cardozo’s vision was to give the youth a platform to showcase their talent and simultaneously secure the future of with the power of the pen. “The youth can showcase their writing skills by contributing their works in the form of poems, articles, letters to the newspapers, etc, which would help them be acquainted with the latest happenings and boost their confidence levels as well”, he stated.

First Anniversary issue of the bi-monthly magazine in Konkani in Roman
script of “Goykar” edited by Tomazinho Cardozo will be released on
21st August, 2009 at 4.30 p.m. at Instuitute Menezes Braganza’s Art
Gallery Hall at Panjim by Mr. Menino Peres, Director of Information &
Publicity. President of Dalgado Konknni Akademy Mr. Premanand Lotlikar
and the President of Goa Konknni Akademy Mr. N. Shivdas will be the
Guests of Honour.

During this year, besides usual writers in Konkani in Roman script
‘Goykar’ attracted 29 new young writers who contributed their writings
such as essays, short stories, poems, etc regularly. Out of these 29
young writers, ten will be felicitated on the occasion of first
Anniversary. These young writers in Konkani in Roman scripts are:
Selza Lopes, Esmeralda Fernandes, Romano Rodrigues, Jocelyn Misquita,
Vailankani Hazel Belem, Merlyn Rosaria Fernandes, Watson Rodrigues,
Roselyn Luis, Sonia Rivonkar and Venisha Fernandes.
All Konkani lovers are requested to attend the function.
